Angled Backshell

The angled shell above was a requirement from a customer who needed a robust product for field engineers, the original design was using a Glue Lined heatshrink over the back of a Molex C Grid connector.

The problem was the angle the connector had to be inserted into the mating half which was in a unit with very little space. We designed the connector with the required angle but the method of production is slightly different, to fit the shell to the housing and cable we use Ultrasonic welding which uses friction to effectively melt the two halves together. This method ensures a rigid tamperproof product which was perfect for the application.
